Build your exact household and we'll calculate how much water, food and supplies you really need — using FEMA, American Red Cross, USDA and CDC guidelines. Every number traces back to a real source (listed at the bottom).
Who are you preparing for?
Needs vary a lot by age, sex and size — add each person and pet so the numbers fit your household, not an average.

Sources & assumptions
- Water — 1 gallon/person/day (½ drinking, ½ sanitation), doubled in extreme heat or for pregnancy/illness. Source: FEMA Ready.gov & American Red Cross.
- Calories by age & sex from the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2020–2025 estimated energy needs, adjusted by activity; +400 cal/day when pregnant or nursing.
- Food weight is calculated from those calories using USDA FoodData Central calorie densities (rice ≈1,650, dry beans ≈1,540, oats ≈1,690, canned meat ≈700, oil ≈4,000 cal/lb).
- Medications — 7-day minimum, 30-day ideal supply of prescriptions. Source: CDC & Ready.gov.
- Pets — roughly 1 oz of water per lb of body weight per day (AVMA); food per package feeding guidelines.
